Aston Villa’s world brand value has plummeted 20 places in the past year according to new figures out today.
Brand Finance figures have shown that the Aston Villa Football Club brand has dropped from twenty first in world football to forty first in the world.
The value of the brand dropped 29% to $110 million from the previous value in 2015 of $155 million. It was also given a rating of AA- in comparison to last years AA.
Perhaps, more importantly to the pride of the Villa faithful West Bromwich Albion leapfrogged them in the table as they pushed up their brand value from $115 million to $185 million.

Other notable figures include Manchester United who still have the most valuable brand in world football with a value of $1,17 billion.
Aston Villa and Newcastle United are the only brands in England outside the Premier League to make the table.
The Villans also earned more than double in tv money than Bayern Munich did for winning the Bundesliga.
Only Monaco and Galatasaray had bigger drops in brand value than the Midlands side.
It is said that a contributing factor to the rise of sides such as Swansea City and West Bromwich Albion is the next mega Premier League broadcasting deal.
The size of both Aston Villa and Newcastle United will keep them in the brand league this year, but it isn’t clear if they miss out on England’s top flight next season whether they can sustain one of the most powerful brands in world football.
