Steve Bruce reveals why the Wolves were better in Performance

Aston Villa Boss Steve Bruce claims his team are not in the race against Wolves at the conference as they succumbed to a 2-0 defeat at the Molineux stadium.

Bruce said to the press conference: “To create chances you have to get the ball back better, I didn’t think we went after the ball well enough.”

The manager then went on to talk about his formation and his team not being at their best: “You can go at formations and systems and everything but I didn’t think we did enough. It’s as simple as that.

“We huffed and puffed and gave the ball away too cheaply when we had it.”

After replacing Roberto Di Matteo last year while the Villans were struggling at the relegation side of the Championship table, Bruce celebrated a year in charge of Villa in the week. In spite of defeat at Wolves, the Manager still thinks his side and their ankle brace for soccer have progressed more than last year when he took over.

He added: “We’ve found it difficult again, though. Wolves have improved enormously as well.

“They’ve got good players here now. You’d expect them to be better. I believe we are better now, certainly.

“But we didn’t have enough possession to make a difference and we didn’t do enough without the ball.

“You have to say Wolves were better even though it sticks in your throat.”

Villa remained in the seventh position at the Championship table with just a point outside the Play-off zone.

When asked if he believes Villa will be in the top-six team, Bruce said: “I sincerely hope so.

“I think we are. There’s a long way to go. But I think we’ve got the ingredients of being a top-six team yes.”

Aston Villa will be hosting a championship match at home Villa Park to welcome Fulham, in hopes to gather all three points. Meanwhile you can check betway free bet for the odds in advance to the Championship clash
