Aston Villa Women have completed the permanent signing of Norway international Mathilde Harviken from Juventus, subject to visa approval.
The 24-year-old centre-back arrives with extensive experience across domestic and international football, having already made more than 200 senior club appearances.
Harviken spent 18 months with Juventus after joining from Rosenborg in January 2025. She made 50 appearances, scored twice and helped the Italian side win Serie A, the Coppa Italia, the Italian Super Cup and the Serie A Women’s Cup.
Juventus confirmed Harviken’s permanent departure for Aston Villa, thanking the defender for her contribution during a successful period in Turin.
Harviken adds more experience to Villa rebuild
Harviken began her career in Norway and represented Elverum, Fart and Røa before joining Rosenborg in 2022. She made more than 80 appearances there and won the Norwegian Cup in 2023.
The defender has also earned 44 senior caps for Norway, scoring once, and has been a regular international over the past four years.
Her arrival gives Natalia Arroyo another composed and experienced option in central defence. Harviken is comfortable on either foot and brings experience from the Champions League and major international tournaments.
She becomes Villa’s sixth addition of the summer, following a recruitment drive which has already added several players with international experience.
As Read Aston Villa reported following Emily Ramsey’s arrival, the club have been moving quickly to reshape Arroyo’s squad before the new Women’s Super League campaign.
Harviken described Villa as a club with significant history and praised the facilities available to help her continue developing.
Her trophy-winning experience should provide another dependable presence as Villa seek to improve on last season and move closer to the leading WSL sides.
