Aston Villa in talks to sign Lewis Grabban

Aston Villa are in talks to sign Bournemouth forward Lewis Grabban, according to the Express.

The deal would be a loan deal until the end of the season with Steve Bruce keen to improve his attacking options as he looks to get Villa back in the Premier League.

The 29-year-old has been at Sunderland for the first few months of the season but his contract was terminated last week.

He scored 12 goals in his 19 games for the Black Cats at they struggled at the bottom of the Championship.

There is no denying that the striker has real talent but it appears there is no place for him at Bournemouth with the likes of Jermaine Defoe, Callum Wilson and Josh King all above him in the pecking order at the club.

Villa are looking to make a real push to get back into the top flight and Bruce apparently sees Grabban as a player who’ll be able to help them achieve their goal of getting promoted.

matchday.
