Aston Villa are prepared to make a move for West Brom midfielder Gareth Barry if the club are promoted via the play offs this season, according to The Mirror
Barry is looking to remain in the Midlands when the Baggies go down after selling his house in Cheshire in recent months.
There is a set clause in the player’s contract, meaning that if West Brom are relegated, he is allowed to cancel his contract and talk to other clubs about a possible move.
Albion only signed Barry from Everton last summer for just £1 million but his time at the Hawthorns looks like it will be short lived.
Villa are looking to add some experience to their side if they do earn promotion and Barry, who played over 440 times for the Villans between 1998 and 2009, could soon find himself back at Villa Park.
