Steve Bruce wants to offer Alan Hutton a new contract
With Alan Hutton’s contract running out in the summer, it would have appeared that the defender was on his way out of the club.
However, due to his incredible form this season, Steve Bruce has been quoted, expressing his desire for the 33 year old to be offered a new contract:
I’ve continued to say this about Alan Hutton. He is everything I enjoy about a player. He goes home, is one of the first in, and you can see his fitness levels at 33 are quite remarkable. He’s been terrific since I’ve been here. If I get my way there will certainly be a contract offered to him.
Contrary to previous opinion, it was believed that Hutton would only be able to establish a new deal on the premise that the Villans were promoted.
However, this new information from the manager shows that the right-back is a crucial cog in his defence and he should be able to land a new contract regardless of the division.
Hutton has been a rock when called upon this season and to lose him would be a significant blow.
Aston Villa’s push for the play-offs has been achieved through a series of impressive defensive displays and Hutton has played a key role in a number of them. Even at 33, he is well worth signing for another year.
