Aston Villa facing big-money competition from elsewhere for Terry
Aston Villa will face competition from clubs from both the Chinese Super League and MLS in their bid to land John Terry this summer.
The experienced defender joined Villa last year following his departure from Chelsea and has since played a huge part for Steve Bruce’s side. Terry has led Villa to the play-off final and will be hoping to help them back to the Premier League with a win over Fulham this weekend.
Terry only signed a one-year contract at Villa Park, though, meaning that his deal expires at the end of the season and he will once again be a free agent.
According to a report from the Mirror, Villa are keen to extend Terry’s stay at the club but will face competition from outside of Europe, with Chinese and American clubs keen to offer the former England international lucrative, respective contracts.
The 37-year-old’s mind is not yet made up with regards to his plans for next season, but Villa will be desperate to keep him as they look to progress in either the Championship or the Premier League.
