Bruce has doubts over Ahmed Elmohamady
Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce has admitted that there are serious doubts over whether defender Ahmed Elmohamady will be fit for the play off final this weekend, according to HITC.
Bruce’s side are just one match from the Premier League as they face Fulham at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.
The defender missed his side’s semi-final second leg against Middlesbrough and faces a struggle to be back in time for the final on Saturday.
Elmohamady has been in fine form this season and so it will be a huge blow if he is forced to miss out, leaving Bruce needing to shuffle the pack.
If Elmohamady does not make it back in time then James Bree is likely to fill in for the match, but this is something the club will be keen to avoid.
Bruce addressed the fitness of his squad ahead of the match against Fulham:
“The only one I’ve got a real major doubt on is Elmohamady. Whether he’ll recover or not, the next couple of days will be vital. The rest are all flying fit.”
