Villa ready to rival Celtic for John McGinn deal

Aston Villa will rival both Celtic and Rangers for the signature of John McGinn this summer, according to the Daily Record.

The cash-strapped Championship side are hoping to land the young midfielder on the cheap as they look to overhaul their squad.

Hibernian manager Neil Lennon has valued the player at £5 million, with interest mounting in his services.

Celtic have already been heavily linked with the Scottish international after a standout campaign for Hibernian

In what looks set to be a busy summer for Villa, the club are beginning to look north of the border in their transfer targets.

There are set to be a number of high-profile departures from the playing squad at Villa Park, with Steve Bruce set to be looking towards younger players this summer.

While Villa are looking to trim their wage bill this summer, the Championship side would be able to offer more money to the player than both the Scottish clubs.
