Villa owner knocks back offer from former Portsmouth owner

Former Portsmouth, Leicester City and Sheffield Wednesday owner Milan Mandarić is interested in taking over at Aston Villa, according to a Birmingham Live exclusive.

The Serbian-American businessman, who is currently the owner of Slovenian club NK Olimpija Ljubljana, has also already had an offer knocked back.

Mandarić reportedly first registered his interest last month and followed it up with an opening offer soon afterwards.

Current Aston Villa owner Dr. Tony Xia apparently turned the offer down with the hope in mind of finding an alternative way out of the financial mess he has the led the club into, but he has so far failed to do so.

The Mandarić-led consortium wanted control and were prepared to meet Xia’s financial demands, but they’ve yet to make a breakthrough.

Mandarić, nicknamed Mr Fixit for his reputation of taking over struggling clubs, is now weighing up his next move.
