Villa linked with Clark return move
Aston Villa are reportedly considering making a move for Newcastle and former Villan defender Ciaran Clark before the loan deadline later this month.
This comes from Bristol Live, who claim that despite the rumours of a Villa Park return for Clark being in the early stages, the transfer talk could have legs.
Clark came through Villa’s academy, joining the club as an 11-year old, and Bristol Live claim that being a boyhood Villa player could aid the club’s chances in persuading him to step back down to the Championship.
The Republic of Ireland international faces competition for a starting berth at St James’ Park this season, and a return to Villa could be the most beneficial move for all parties.
The Midlands club have already signed a host of players this summer, including John McGinn, Ørjan Nyland, Axel Tuanzebe and André Moreira, but Steve Bruce is keen to further strengthen his squad before the loan window closes later this month.
