Championship hopefuls Aston Villa are interested in a move for Southampton striker Charlie Austin, according to The Telegraph.
Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has been trimming his squad lately, with Austin the latest name touted with a departure from the South Coast side.
The 29-year-old has struggled to have the desired impact since the manager has come in, with Danny Ings, Shane Long and Michael Obafemi all preferred.
Villa will be looking to add Premier League quality to their side as they aim to gain promotion back to the top flight, with Austin having vast experience at the highest level, as well as being a proven goalscorer.
He would surely see a move to Villa Park as an opportunity for regular first-team football as he edges towards the tail-end of his career, with a potential partnership with on-loan frontman Tammy Abraham on the cards.
Wolverhampton Wanderers are also said to be keen on a deal for Austin, as they look to bolster their attacking options.
