It’s being reported by Football Insider that newly-promoted side Aston Villa have made an approach to sign Chelsea’s 21-year-old defender Fikayo Tomori.
Tomori was sensational on loan at Derby County in the 2018/19 season. He made a total 55 appearances for the Rams, helping Frank Lampard’s men to play-off final in which they fell short to Aston Villa.
The Englishman was also named Derby’s Player of the Year for the 2018/19 season, a testament to his great campaign.
Axel Tuanzebe and Tyrone Mings will both be returning to their respective clubs this summer so Villa are in desperate need of two centre-backs during the transfer window.
With Chelsea already stacked in that centre-back position, it is considered unlikely that Tomori will be playing at the Bridge next season.
At such a young age, the English defender has already displayed great understanding and calmness, traits that can be considered very rare for someone so young.
