Nicolas Jackson has enjoyed great goalscoring form since his move to Aston Villa from Chelsea.
The former Chelsea and Bayern Munich forward was let off by Chelsea in the summer in a £47.5 million deal. He has scored seven goals since joining Villa, including braces against Fenerbahce and Manchester City.
Jackson is in hot form, finding the net five times in his last five appearances. His performances have led to praise from former Premier League winners, Ian Wright and Gary Neville, who backed him to be a success at Aston Villa.
Ian Wright believes Nicolas Jackson has the qualities to become a major success at Aston Villa after the striker made an impressive start to life under Unai Emery.
Ian Wright impressed with Nicolas Jackson
Wright believes Nicolas Jackson always had the qualities to become a successful striker but needed to become more clinical in front of goal. The former Arsenal forward was impressed with his movement, runs behind defenders and ability to bring others into play.
Speaking about the Villa forward on Stick to Football, Wright said:
“I’m delighted for him. When you watched him at Chelsea, yes he missed chances but everything else about his game… the way he makes runs, plays on the shoulder, his touch… you knew that if he could just start nicking some goals, he would be fine.
“You’re looking at him now after scoring a few goals and you can actually see the confidence in him. He could go on a run at Villa, it’s up to him now where he goes.”
Jackson’s recent form has certainly given Villa plenty to be pleased about. He has looked more confident in front of goal than his Chelsea years and living upto his price tag with big goals against some difficult opposition.
Gary Neville also praises Aston Villa striker
Wright was not the only one to speak positively about Nicolas Jackson. Gary Neville also praised the striker, suggesting he always believed the forward would be a good signing for another club.
“Is Nicolas Jackson the most improved player in the Premier League? I always thought he would be a good signing for someone because he’s a handful, I would hate to play against him. I do like him.”
Chelsea allowed Jackson to leave for an initial £47.5million in the summer. However, his performances at Villa and their own injury concerns have put the spotlight on that decision.
With seven goals already to his name, Nicolas Jackson will be hoping to score again when they host Fulham at Villa Park.
