Aston Villa signed Emiliano Buendia from Norwich City and Leon Bailey from Bayer Leverkusen this summer, so an existing player might be shown the door. Football Insider say the Midlands outfit are listening to offers for Anwar El Ghazi, so it’s the beginning of the end for the 26-year-old.
El Ghazi initially joined Villa on a season-long loan from LOSC Lille in 2018 before turning the move permanent in 2019. He’s made a total of 107 appearances in all competitions, scoring 23 goals with 13 assists.
The Dutch international scored in Villa’s Championship playoff final win over Derby County in 2019, sending the club back into the Premier League after a three-year absence, but he’s now deemed surplus to requirements and there’s acceptance on social media that he’s no longer required.
El Ghazi scored an impressive 11 goals in 31 games across the board last season, but he might struggle for opportunities with Buendia, Bailey and Bertrand Traore in the squad.
Football Insider say the 26-year-old has interest from AS Roma, but a suitor would have to pay £15m to procure his signature this summer.
