Aston Villa’s winning run came to an end on Sunday afternoon in the form of a 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, leading to Emi Martinez posting a picture on Instagram to lament the defeat and thank supporters for watching.
The 29-year-old has made six Premier League appearances this season, conceding six goals with three clean sheets. He played his part in shutting out Everton and Manchester United prior to the Tottenham defeat and will be determined to put things right in the coming weeks.
Martinez was disappointed with the result on Sunday but was grateful at how many fans came to North London. Dean Smith’s side had been in good form before travelling to Tottenham, so the mood among supporters remains positive.
Villa host Wolverhampton Wanderers after the international break, so there’s a Midlands derby in the offing. Smith’s men are 10th in the Premier League this season with 10 points from seven games, having won two of their last three.
