Frederic Guilbert has frequently updated supporters on social media of all his activities and his latest post on Instagram was of his family. The 26-year-old had a picture taken with his partner and child to announce a new baby was on the way while also showing off a fresh trim in a video.
Guilbert’s lack of first-team football at Aston Villa led to him returning to Racing Strasbourg over the summer and he’s been a regular at the Meinau stadium ever since.
The 26-year-old has made five Ligue 1 appearances for Strasbourg, amassing 352 minutes of football from a possible 450, so he made the right decision to seek out the loan move.
Guilbert joined Villa on a four-year deal from SM Caen in 2019 and has gone on to make 32 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals with three assists. Matty Cash is first-choice at right-back under Dean Smith, however, so there is no starting place for the Frenchman.
Nevertheless, it’s good seeing Guilbert playing regularly for Strasbourg and being in good spirits while with his growing family, so fans will no doubt wish him well this season. His future will be up in the air when he returns.
