Tyrone Mings impressed v Leicester

Aston Villa drew 0-0 with Leicester City on Saturday afternoon and Tyrone Mings was one of many players to put in a good performance. The 29-year-old started alongside Ezri Konsa and played his part in limiting the Foxes to only two clean sheets over the 90 minutes.

No player won more aerial duels, made more clearances or attempted more passes than Mings, so he was deserving of journalist’s praise. Matt Maher of the Express and Star gave Mings a player rating of 7/10 and said he delivered a ‘dominant’ performance.

Ashley Preece of Birmingham Live gave the 29-year-old a player rating of 6/10 and said he was ‘switched on’ at the back throughout. Preece lamented his finishing at the other end, however. Tom Gott of 90min gave Mings a player rating of 5/10 and was also critical of his missed opportunity while calling out his temperament.

Against Leicester, Mings had 45 touches, won five aerial duels, completed 62.5% of his 32 passes, had one shot, found a teammate with 2/7 long balls, made one tackle, had six clearances, made one interception and gave away two fouls.
