Aston Villa will regret not landing Ibraham Sangare
Aston Villa once again welcomed some new faces to the Midlands club during the previous summer transfer window.
However, one figure they were linked with but didn’t end up signing is Ibrahim Sangare, who we feel Steven Gerrard will be having nightmares over not having in his squad.
Even though the Villans brought in Boubacar Kamara, Gerrard will surely now be wishing the club had secured a deal for the PSV Eindhoven midfielder when they had the chance as not only is Kamara injured, but Douglas Luiz is currently being linked with a move away from Villa Park.
Last season saw the 24-year-old show why he would have been such a brilliant signing for Villa and a great addition to their midfield.
For example, no other player at the Dutch club played more league minutes than the midfield figure, showing how vital he is for his side.
With that, Sangare made more interceptions (72) and won more tackles (64) than any of his teammates, showcasing his clear defensive talent from midfield.
Bearing in mind how Villa have only managed to keep one clean sheet in the Premier League so far this season, it’s safe to say that they could do with some extra defensive strength, which is something that Sangare would have surely been able to provide.
Hailed as a “complete” player by Alain Casanova, the PSV star has had a similar start to this season as his previous by currently having a higher average of tackles per game (3.2) than any other player at the club.
Taking all of this into account, we feel that Gerrard should now be having nightmares about not seeing his club shell out the reported £34m transfer fee that PSV were looking to get to sell their midfield star, as his talents could have had a big impact on Villa’s results so far this season.
