Villa eye double Emery boost as Guirassy door opens and Remiro emerges as Martinez alternative

Aston Villa are targeting a striker and goalkeeper double signing with fresh developments on Guirassy, Martinez’s replacement, and a potential Rogers exit all emerging.

  • Guirassy’s brother and agent has denied any Fenerbahce agreement: “no deal of any kind has been reached”
  • Martinez is reportedly “one step away” from a full Juventus agreement, per Matteo Moretto
  • Real Sociedad’s Alex Remiro has emerged as a fresh goalkeeper option alongside Trafford and Suzuki
  • Rogers is now reportedly open to leaving Villa Park as Arsenal circle for a big-money move

Guirassy. The door remains open

Serhou Guirassy’s situation took an important turn this week. Speculation had suggested the Dortmund striker had verbally agreed a move to Fenerbahce, but his brother and agent, Karamba Guirassy, firmly denied that claim in an exclusive conversation with Sky Sports. “To clarify: no agreement of any kind has been reached. Serhou is currently evaluating his options for next season. Any claim of a verbal deal is simply not true.”

That specific phrase, “evaluating his options,” is significant for Villa. It confirms the 28-year-old remains genuinely available, rather than effectively signed elsewhere. Guirassy has scored 56 goals across two Dortmund seasons, and his profile would represent a genuine upgrade option in the number nine role, even accounting for everything Watkins has delivered across six outstanding years at Villa Park. Consequently, Villa’s frontrunner status in this race remains entirely intact heading into the second half of the summer.

Martinez. “One step away” from Juventus

Meanwhile, the goalkeeper situation continues to move toward its inevitable conclusion. Matteo Moretto, who works closely alongside Fabrizio Romano, provided the clearest update yet. “Juventus is very close to a total agreement with Emiliano Martinez on the contract. The deal is truly one step away, and soon new contacts between the parties to define every detail 100 percent, while awaiting the negotiations with Aston Villa to heat up.”

That update aligns precisely with everything reported throughout June. Personal terms are essentially resolved. The outstanding question remains the transfer fee between Villa and Juventus, a gap that should narrow considerably once formal club-to-club talks intensify.

Remiro emerges. A new name in the goalkeeper search

As a direct consequence of Martinez’s expected departure, Villa’s goalkeeper search has widened further still. Alongside the already well-documented interest in Manchester City’s James Trafford and Parma’s Zion Suzuki, the Express & Star now report that Real Sociedad’s Alex Remiro has entered Villa’s consideration.

The 31-year-old Spaniard brings genuine experience to the conversation, having made over 300 appearances across seven seasons at Sociedad. Additionally, with only one year remaining on his contract, Remiro would likely be available for a relatively modest fee compared to younger alternatives. His two Spain caps confirm international-level recognition, while his age profile offers Villa an experienced, immediately reliable option rather than a developmental project requiring patience.

Therefore, Villa’s three-name shortlist now spans considerably different profiles. Trafford represents the long-term, homegrown investment. Suzuki offers elite specific skills at a developmental stage. Remiro provides experienced, low-risk reliability. Each option serves a different strategic purpose depending on exactly how Emery wants to approach the post-Martinez era.

Rogers. A potentially devastating development

Perhaps the most significant line in this entire update concerns Morgan Rogers. According to reports, the Europa League Player of the Season is now reportedly open to leaving Villa Park, with Arsenal actively circling for a big-money move. This represents a notable shift from earlier reporting, which suggested Rogers was simply open without actively pushing for an exit.

If accurate, this development would mark a genuinely significant moment in Villa’s summer planning, given how central Rogers has been to the club’s success this season.

Three major stories, three different directions. Guirassy remains available. Martinez’s exit edges closer to completion. And Rogers’ openness to leaving could ultimately fund both the Guirassy pursuit and the goalkeeper search simultaneously. A complicated summer continues to take shape, but the pieces are slowly falling into place.
