Aston Villa have blocked the Emiliano Martinez transfer by refusing to lower their €12million asking price. Juventus still want the Argentina goalkeeper, but they are now exploring other options.
La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Martinez remains Juventus’ preferred target. The Italian club value his experience, personality and quality at the highest level.
However, Villa have not changed their position. Juventus have reportedly reached broad terms with Martinez, but they remain unwilling to meet the €12million valuation.
The goalkeeper is currently on holiday after the World Cup. His delayed return to Birmingham could also slow negotiations.
Juventus are therefore preparing to step up talks for Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario. They would prefer a loan deal with an option to buy.
Freiburg goalkeeper Noah Atubolu has also emerged as another possible target. Zion Suzuki and Vanja Milinkovic-Savic remain on the wider shortlist.

Villa’s stance leaves Juventus with a clear decision. They must either meet the asking price or move on to another goalkeeper.
Martinez remains under contract at Villa Park until 2029. As a result, Unai Emery’s side are under no pressure to accept a reduced offer.
Aston Villa have already made their Martinez position clear. The club still view him as an important player ahead of the new season.
Juventus may hope Martinez pushes for the move after returning to Birmingham. However, personal terms alone will not force Villa into a sale.
The Italian club’s interest in Vicario and Atubolu highlights the current deadlock. Villa have therefore kept control of the negotiations.
Unless Juventus meet the €12million demand, the Emiliano Martinez transfer is unlikely to progress soon.
