Emi Buendía has responded firmly to the Pau Torres ACL injury rumour circulating among Aston Villa supporters.
The midfielder urged the account responsible to obtain accurate information before making such a serious claim about his teammate.
Torres has not featured in either of Villa’s opening pre-season friendlies against Walsall and Porto. His limited visibility in training footage led to unsupported suggestions on social media that he had suffered a serious knee injury.
Buendía replied directly beneath one of those posts.
“Please be serious and have the right information before saying something like that,” the Argentina international wrote.
The original post was subsequently deleted. A screenshot of Buendía’s response to the Pau Torres claim has continued to circulate among Villa supporters.

Buendía’s intervention provides strong reason to dismiss the specific ACL claim. However, his comment does not confirm Torres’ precise fitness status or provide a date for his return.
Villa have not announced that the defender has suffered a major injury. Until the club or Unai Emery provides an update, his absence should not be treated as evidence of a long-term problem.
Torres did not feature when Villa suffered a narrow 2-1 pre-season defeat against Porto. Emery instead used Tyrone Mings alongside academy defender Modou Cissé before introducing more youngsters later in the game.
The Spaniard remains an important part of Villa’s strongest defence. His passing allows Emery’s side to build through pressure, while his partnership with Ezri Konsa provides valuable continuity following several major squad changes.
Supporters will still want an official explanation for his pre-season absence. Buendía has nevertheless made clear that the Pau Torres ACL injury rumour should not be presented as fact without reliable information.
