Pape Matar Sarr is reportedly under consideration as Aston Villa continue to reshape Unai Emery’s midfield.
Last Word on Spurs claims Villa hold a strong interest in signing the Tottenham and Senegal midfielder.
Villa have monitored Sarr previously and could now revisit the 23-year-old as Emery searches for further energy and physicality.
However, there is no indication that Villa have submitted an offer or opened formal negotiations with Tottenham.
Pape Matar Sarr transfer would strengthen Villa midfield
Sarr would provide a dynamic option capable of pressing opponents, carrying possession and covering ground through central midfield.
Those qualities could prove valuable following Youri Tielemans’ move to Manchester United and Amadou Onana’s serious knee injury.
Villa have already responded by signing Johan Manzambi and João Gomes. Sarr would offer further Premier League experience and help Emery manage another demanding domestic and European schedule.
Tottenham remain in a strong negotiating position and would not need to approve a discounted departure. Sarr has made more than 100 senior appearances for Spurs and established himself as a Senegal international.
His arrival could also influence opportunities for Villa’s younger midfielders. Tommi O’Reilly is already in talks over another loan move as the club plans the next stage of his development.
Villa must first establish whether Tottenham are willing to negotiate. Sarr’s athleticism fits an obvious squad requirement, but the Pape Matar Sarr transfer remains at the interest stage.
