Cole Palmer makes ‘bailiffs’ joke about former Aston Villa star

Cole Palmer has given Morgan Rogers a light-hearted Chelsea welcome following the former Aston Villa star’s British-record move to Stamford Bridge.

The England star included a joking threat involving bailiffs if Rogers continues using their shared goal celebration.

Rogers completed a reported £117million transfer from Villa to Chelsea earlier this month. The move reunited him with Palmer after the pair developed together in Manchester City’s academy.

Palmer described Rogers as one of his closest friends and expressed his excitement about playing alongside him again.

However, the Chelsea attacker joked that Rogers could face consequences if he uses the shivering celebration they have both performed after scoring.

“I’ve trademarked it, so if he tries to do anything, he will have the bailiffs at his door,” Palmer said, before laughing and adding: “We’ll do it together, I think.”

The full comments were published by Birmingham Live, with Palmer also praising Rogers’ ability and explaining how pleased he was about the transfer.

Morgan Rogers Chelsea welcome underlines Palmer friendship

Palmer and Rogers regularly played together during their time in Manchester City’s youth system.

Their relationship was also one factor behind Rogers’ decision to move to Stamford Bridge. The former Villa attacker previously explained that the opportunity to reunite with Palmer appealed to him.

ReadAstonVilla covered Rogers’ reasons for leaving Aston Villa after his record-breaking transfer was completed.

Palmer believes their contrasting qualities can work effectively together. Rogers offers physical power and carries possession directly at defenders, while Palmer prefers to create through combinations and incisive passes.

The joke will still feel strange for Villa supporters after watching Rogers perform the celebration throughout his rise under Unai Emery.

Villa received an exceptional fee for the 23-year-old, but they have lost one of their most productive and popular players. Palmer’s comments offer another reminder that Rogers is already settling into life with his new club.
