Aston Villa are particularly interested in signing Juventus midfielder Teun Koopmeiners as Unai Emery considers further additions to his squad.
Teun Koopmeiners to Aston Villa has emerged as a potential option alongside Manchester United, with Juventus prepared to discuss the Dutchman’s departure this summer.
Calciomercato.it reports that Villa and Manchester United are the two Premier League clubs showing the strongest interest in the 28-year-old.
Juventus are looking to receive at least €30million for Koopmeiners. However, the Serie A side could also consider a paid loan containing an obligation to buy if certain conditions are met.
Teun Koopmeiners to Aston Villa could cost €30m
Koopmeiners joined Juventus from Atalanta in 2024 in a deal worth around €55m, but his position in Turin has become less secure.
Luciano Spalletti currently appears to favour former Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz in his midfield. That could increase the possibility of Koopmeiners looking for greater playing time elsewhere.
The situation surrounding Luiz has also changed this summer.
ReadAstonVilla reported on Saturday that Luiz wants to remain at Juventus after Villa decided against making his loan return permanent. The Brazilian is now determined to rebuild his career in Turin and has impressed during Juventus’ pre-season preparations.
Villa have already made major changes to Emery’s midfield following Youri Tielemans’ departure and Amadou Onana’s long-term injury.
João Gomes and Johan Manzambi have arrived, but Koopmeiners would offer a different profile. The Netherlands international can operate deeper in midfield or push forward into a more attacking role.
Villa can also offer Champions League football, potentially strengthening their position if Juventus receive competing proposals.
No formal offer has yet been reported.
However, with Juventus willing to negotiate and Villa now described as particularly interested, Koopmeiners is another midfielder to watch during the final month of the window.
