Aston Villa handed triple injury lift as Goretzka, Torres and Madjo train before Sevilla clash

Aston Villa have received encouraging injury news after Leon Goretzka, Pau Torres and Brian Madjo all took part in training at the club’s camp in Spain.

BirminghamLive correspondent John Townley reported on Wednesday that the trio trained as Villa began their mid-season camp.

Their involvement gives Unai Emery a positive development ahead of Friday’s friendly against Sevilla, although it does not confirm that any of them will play.

Aston Villa injury update offers encouragement across three positions

Goretzka has been working towards his first competitive Villa appearance following a knee problem. His involvement in Spain follows the earlier update on his rehabilitation.

Torres has been recovering from the hamstring injury sustained against Nottingham Forest, while Madjo’s progress follows the plan for him to resume group training during the international break.

The potential benefit spans defence, midfield and attack. If the trio progress to match fitness, Emery would have more options for managing minutes when competitive fixtures resume.

Sevilla selection will provide the next indication

Friday’s friendly offers a possible opportunity for playing time, but the training report does not establish their individual workloads or readiness to start.

Villa return to Premier League action against Brentford on 10 October. The time before that fixture gives the returning players an opportunity to build fitness.

For now, the confirmed development is their involvement in training. Match selection remains the next step.
