Bournemouth 0-1 Aston Villa – Gallery

Aston Villa kicked off their season with a tricky trip to the South coast to take on Eddie Howe’s dynamic Bournemouth side in their first ever game in the Premier League.

Micah Richards, Jordan Amavi, Idrissa Gueye, Jordan Veretout, and Jordan Ayew and Rudy Gestede all appearing in an Aston Villa shirt for the first time.

The first half was a half to forget for Villa with the side looking all at sea – with the side failing to gel. But, at half time Sherwood must have got the hairdryer out with Villa firing on all cylinders.

Jordan Ayew was taken off after 59 minutes with the Ghanian failing to make a real mark on the game. Gestede came on to the chants of, “Rudy Rudy Rudy” almost like a rendition of “Ruby” by the Kaiser Chiefs.

The former-Cardiff man immediately made an impact giving Villa a threat up front. The rest was euphoria with Gestede heading home powerfully to give Villa fans a day to remember at the Vitality Stadium.
