Aston Villa boss Remi Garde has promised that there will be improvements after the Frenchman’s uneasy start to life in the Villa Park hot seat.
In his opening three games, Garde has yet to register three points after defeats to Everton and Watford and a draw in his opening game as manager.
With the side at the bottom of the table, five points adrift of safety manager Remi Garde has promised that there will be no repeat of the awful performance against Everton against Southampton.
It’s the first away game for Villa since Roberto Martinez’s side dismantled a broken Aston Villa 4-0 in November.
He acknowledges that the fans are unhappy after their worst star ever in Premier League history, “I still know they are very frustrated.”
Ahead of their trip to St Mary’s he promises that there will be changes to the system that he inherited from Tim Sherwood, “But we won’t let them down and we will try our best at Southampton of course, “We have to give more protection to our goal.”
The main problem for Villa is their defensive performance. Manager Remi Garde has noticed the lack of defensive unity and hard work that should be shown by any team who wants to win, “The desire to win the ball was not enough, we have to work hard on that altogether, not only the defensive players but as a team.”
Garde is looking to see a difference from the 3-2 defeat to Watford last weekend. Garde highlighted one major problem from the loss, “In the last game I think we missed a little bit of desire to win the ball in front of our box. It cost us a few goals in the past games.”
Aston Villa need to pick up points as they have a very tough Christmas schedule coming up, namely home fixtures against Arsenal and West Ham as well as tricky away games against Newcastle and Sunderland in the New Year.
