Aston Villa fans have protest banner confiscated

Video footage has emerged which seemingly captures the moment when a banner protesting against Aston Villa Chairman Randy Lerner was confiscated by stewards during the Villans’ home tie against Tottenham Hotspur.

Villa fans are obviously upset at the direction in which the club are heading and also the mismanagement that they feel is taking place at the highest levels.

As well as been all-but-confirmed as relegated, Villa also have financial issues and recorded a loss of over £20million last year.

Therefore, it is understandable why fans would protest against Lerner at the stadium, however, stewards at Villa Park would not let them display their banners, even though similar banners are often seen at other stadiums across the country.

The censorship of the fans inside Villa Park will only add to the feeling of unrest and uneasiness that is surrounding the club at the moment as the supporters feel justified with their disillusionment and will feel that they should be allowed to raise concerns by displaying banners.
