Di Matteo to enter second round of talks

Roberto Di Matteo is set to enter ‘fresh’ talks with Aston Villa officials after David Moyes ruled himself out of the running to be the next manager at Villa Park.

Laurie Whitwell for the Mail Online reports how Villa are set to sit down at the table with the former West Bromwich Albion boss as they look to appoint a new man by the end of the week.

Di Matteo has been in talks already this summer with the Villans and Serie A side Lazio, but Villa are now keen to speak to the Champions League winning manager.

He lasted managed in Germany at Schalke where he lasted under a season. It wasn’t a bad season for him though as he guided them to Europa League qualification, but two wins in his last ten saw him offer his resignation.

Bar the elephant in the room of Di Matteo winning the Champions League he also achieved promotion with local rivals West Bromwich Albion and also made MK Dons a steady League One side.
