Aston Villa and Newcastle United have registered an interest for the Reading midfielder Danny Williams alongside Premier League outfit Sunderland according to reports.
The Mail Online report that Villa have made an enquiry about the availability of the American international who made the move to Berkshire from German side Hoffenheim in 2013.
The midfielder has been a key player for the Royals and is a familiar face to Aston Villa assistant manager Steve Clark who once managed Williams at the Madjeski Stadium.
Last season, Williams found the net on six occasions. He has featured 94 times since his move. German born Williams opted to play for the USA in 2011 and has since appeared on 20 occasions for his national side.Roberto Di Matteo is rumoured to be in the market for a creative midfield outlet and Williams could well fit the bill as Villa aim to seal an instant return back to the Premier League. He has already made one signing already this summer with the capture of Tommy Elphick. The Villans midfield is expected to see departures this summer with Jordan Veretout, and Idrissa Gueye both linked with exits.
