Marseille were linked with a move for Aston Villa’s Idrissa Gana late last week, but it appears that the French club will not be able to afford the £7million release clause in his contract, and Villa don’t want to sell him and therefore will not accept any lower offers.
With Gana seemingly out of reach, the Ligue 1 side have turned their attention elsewhere and it just so happens that another Villa player is on their radar.
According to Gregg Evans of the Birmingham Mail, Marseille are ready to bid £3million for Carlos Sanchez after they scouted him at the Copa America.
Although Roberto Di Matteo seemingly wants to keep Gana, Evans thinks he’d be happy to let Sanchez go for £3million as he feels that he has enough options in centre-midfield.
Marseille scouted Sanchez as he played for Colombia in the summer tournament and were seemingly impressed enough by him to ready the offer that Villa should receive in the next few days.
