No contact between club and Huddersfield Town over boss

Aston Villa have not contacted Huddersfield Town over manager David Wagner as they step up their pursuit to replace Roberto Di Matteo as boss.

The Yorkshire Post say that the Terriers have no received any contact over Wagner, who is one of the favourites for the job at the Midlands sides.

It is said that Huddersfield would not welcome an approach from the Villans if they did launch a move for the 44 year old. Wagner learnt his trade as a coach under Jurgen Klopp during the German’s time at Borussia Dortmund before stepping into management himself with Huddersfield in November last year.

Villa CEO Keith Wyness and owner Dr Tony Xia are believed to have drawn up a shortlist of managers they will look at as they seek to secure an immediate return back to the Premier League.

Huddersfield have enjoyed a successful start to their season with 25 points after eleven games including a point away at Villa Park.
