Jordan Ayew injured on international duty

Jordan Ayew is a doubt for Aston Villa’s game against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday evening as he picked up an unspecified injury whilst on international duty.

Twitter: #BlackStars have arrived in South Africa for an international friendly against the @BafanaBafana on Tuesday October 11. (@ghanafaofficial)

Twitter: 18 out of the 23 who were in the squad that drew goalless with Uganda, travelled with coach Avram Grant and the rest of the technical team. (@ghanafaofficial)

Twitter: Some players including Jonathan Mensah, Jordan Ayew and Afriyie Acquah could not travel with the team due to injuries. (@ghanafaofficial)

The Ghanan FA tweeted out that Ayew was one of the players who did not travel with the rest of the squad for their friendly game with South Africa.

Ayew played the whole 90 minutes as Ghana drew 0-0 with Uganda in their World Cup qualifier but it appears that he picked up an injury that has ruled him out of tomorrow night’s friendly match.

The 25-year-old has played in every game for Villa this season and caretaker boss Steve Clarke would have almost certainly started him against Wolves is he was 100% fit, but he might have to use other options if Ayew can’t shake off the injury before Saturday evening.
