Steve Bruce says that he has banned Aston Villa’s French players from speaking to each other in French at the training ground as he looks to improve the camaraderie of his squad.
Bruce took over Villa following the sacking of Roberto Di Matteo and has made a number of changes as he looks to get the club back into the Premier League at the first time of asking.
One of those changes is insisting that all players communicate in English so that everybody knows what is being said, which in turn can prevent anybody feeling uneasy.

Bruce explained:
The French are speaking French, but the one thing we’ve said to them is that, if they’re talking to each other, we demand they talk in English so we know what they’re talking about. Make no mistake, they’ve been good as gold. Football is a common language but it obviously helps if I can hear the banter and what they’re talking about in English so that I can go along with it, if that’s what I need to hear. Maybe they’re calling me a few names – but that’s okay as well!
Villa have a massive game this weekend as they face Birmingham City in the Second City Derby and Bruce, having spent time as manager at The Blues, knows all too well how important a win would be, not only for the three points but also for the morale of everyone connected with Aston Villa Football Club.
