Shotstopper called up for International duty

Aston Villa goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini has returned to the Italian Under 21 international fold after being called up for the first time since moving to Villa Park.

Gollini will travel to Southampton’s St. Mary’s Stadium for Italy’s game vs England on 10 November hoping to add to his one cap so far at U21 level.

The keeper struggled when he first moved to the Villans from Hellas Verona in the summer but he has quickly settled down into the Villa side and produced a handful of reassured performances.

He will then travel with the squad back to Italy where they will take on Denmark in a second friendly.

Other options in goal for Italy are Alessio Cragno from Benevento Calcio and Alex Meret of Udinese.

Jack Grealish has been called up by Aidy Boothroyd for England ahead of next week’s clash.

What do you make of Gollini so far this season? Let us know on our poll below.
