Villa join Birmingham and Wolves in race for midfielder

Aston Villa have followed the lead set by Midlands rivals Birmingham City and Wolverhampton Wanderers and have scouted non-league midfielder Zack Kotwica.

The 21-year-old is currently on the books of Gloucester City, having joined them in the summer after he was released by Cheltenham Town.

According to a report from HITC, the three Midlands-based sides have had scouts watching the midfielder at recent games and reports are said to have been positive.

Brighton & Hove Albion took Kotwica on a trial last summer and they too could look to sign him after he reportedly impressed during his short stay on the South coast.

Gloucester currently sit in sixth place in the National League North table and Kotwica has been a major part of their successful start to the campaign. He’s scored six goals in 13 games, putting in plenty of excellent performances along the way.

Quite why Villa would feel the need to bring him in is another matter as they seemingly have a lot of options, but you can never have enough talented players.
