Steve Bruce could raid former club to sign new goalkeeper

Aston Villa are considering making a move for Hull City goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic, according to reports.

Jakupovic is the back-up to David Marshall at Hull and having worked with him before, Steve Bruce is apparently interested in bringing him to Villa Park.

It’s unclear if Bruce is looking for a new number one keeper or a back-up with links to Manchester United youngster Sam Johnstone also reported earlier this week.

Pierluigi Gollini is the first-choice for Villa at the moment and Bruce might be looking to either replace the Italian or provide him with some competition.

If it is just a case of wanting a back-up, Johnstone is unlikely to be that player as Man United want him to play whilst out of loan whilst Jakupovic might think he’s better off on the bench of a Premier League side rather than a Championship team.

The Swiss keeper only signed a two-year contract extension with Hull so if Villa want him, they’re unlikely to get him on the cheap.
