Aston Villa left-back Aly Cissokho is close to joining Olympiacos on a season-long loan, as per a report by Gregg Evans of the Birmingham Mail.
The French defender is clearly not in Steve Bruce’s plans and is looking for a move away and Villa are happy to let him go.
Villa have given Cissokho’s representatives permission to speak with Olympiacos and a deal could go through anytime within the next 24 hours or so.
The move will start off as a loan but there will be an option for the Greek side to sign the 29-year-old permanently in the summer.
Cissokho, who has had a very up and down career with the Villans, is aware that he is not in Bruce’s plans and is happy to move to Greece so there shouldn’t be any speed bumps.
When the Frenchman does leave the club, Villa are expected to make a move for another full-back, with numerous players being linked with a move to Villa Park.
