Middlesbrough’s boring 0-0 draw with Watford at Vicarage Road set an unfortunate Premier League record for ex-Villa striker Rudy Gestede.
Gestede made his debut for Middlebrough when he replaced Cristhian Stuani in the 65th minute, but he never looked like he was going to make an impact on the proceedings.
The draw, which was probably a fair result in the end, created an unhappy milestone for the former Villa man. The Benin striker joined Villa in the summer of 2015, but he only managed 5 league goals all season as Villa were relegated from the Premier League for the first time ever.
His first goal for Villa came in an opening day win over Bournemouth, but that was one of a few times that Gestede tasted a Premier League victory whilst wearing a Villa shirt – even though he went on to make a further 31 appearances.
Thanks to the stalemate yesterday, Gestede became the first player ever to have featured in 32 consecutive games without getting a win.
Twitter: 32 – Rudy Gestede has played 32 consecutive Premier League games without a win; the longest ever run in the competition. Unfortunate. (@OptaJoe)
Unlucky Rudy!
