Villa end their interest in League Two attacker, for now

Aston Villa will not be making a bid for Exeter City attacker, Ollie Watkins, despite reports, according to Gregg Evans.

The promising young attacker had been linked with a move to Villa Park as a possible replacement for Jack Grealish, should the player move on.

Grealish had been linked with a move to Middlesbrough, but it now appears that neither player will be going in or out of the Championship side during this January transfer window.

It’s likely that Villa will keep a close eye on Watkins and possibly re-ignite their interest in the player in the summer.

Watkins has been tipped for a big-money move in the future after impressing since breaking through into the Exeter City first-team squad.

His form has helped them turn around a disastrous start to the season, with the Devon-based club now hoping to compete for a play-off position at the end of the season.
