Villa legend backs new signing to shine under Bruce

The goalkeeper joined the club on loan until the end of the season from Manchester United during the transfer window, as the club let go summer signing Pierluigi Gollini.

Spink said, as reported by the Express, that crucial errors that have cost Villa this season.

It has been a problem at the club this season. Points wise, errors have cost Villa goals this season.

Johnstone is highly thought of at Manchester United but has made some high-profile errors since moving to Villa Park temporarily.

Despite the early mistakes, Spink sees the potential in the United shot stopper and has time for the player.

I have got time for Sam Johnstone though. He will be a decent goalkeeper.

He should have dealt with the first goal. We know that, but he is an honest lad and I am prepared to give him time.

The youngster was involved in Nottingham Forest’s equalising goal on Saturday, which could have been avoided.

Johnstone fumbled the long-range shot directly into the path of Britt Assombalonga, who tapped into from close range to draw Forest back on level terms before they went on to win the game.
