Aston Villa defender James Chester admits the club’s supporters have let the players off lightly for their poor form this season.
Speaking to the Birmingham Mail, Chester admits that the fans have every right to voice their frustrations towards the players.
The fans are within their rights to be having a moan at the moment, and if I’m honest, they’ve been a bit gentle on us for what we’ve done.
It’s understandable after the number of years they had to suffer been in and around the bottom of the Premier League, and now the Championship.

With the run we’ve shown and the performances we’ve put put in over the last six weeks, it could’ve been a lot worse.
Villa have struggled to adapt to life in the Championship after being relegated from the Premier League last season.
After hiring Roberto Di Matteo in the summer, it’s been a season of change for Villa, who now, under the management of Steve Bruce, find themselves 17th in the league, just six points away from the drop zone.
Despite their poor form, Chester knows exactly what the club need to do in order to turn things around.
We need to turn around the embarrassment and the suffering they felt for a long time, and not to prolong it like we have done in the last six weeks.
We’re convinced by the players the gaffer’s brought in, and having worked with him before at Hull City, I know we’ve certainly got the right people here to turn it around.
With just one win in their last four, Villa are waiting for a turn of fortune, despite spending big in the January and summer transfer window.
The club signed the likes of Henri Lansbury, Scott Hogan and Conor Hourihane, who have all impressed in this division.
