Free agent defender Christopher Samba is currently training with Aston Villa, as per John Percy of the Telegraph.

The former Blackburn and QPR defender has been a free agent since January when his contract with Panathinaikos was terminated by mutual consent as he’d hardly played for them due to injuries.
The 32-year-old was recently on trial with Crystal Palace but failed to earn a contract there as Sam Allardyce brought in Mamadou Sakho on loan from Liverpool instead.

Villa have been on a terrible run but in truth, they have a pretty solid record in terms of goals conceded compared to a lot of Championship sides. Only seven other sides in the league have shipped more goals than Villa but it looks like Steve Bruce might still be eyeing up bringing Samba in.
It might just be that Villa are allowing the Congolese defender to train with them to boost his fitness but as he’s a free agent, he could be signed if Bruce is impressed with what he sees.
