Scott Hogan set to be out for up to five weeks

Aston Villa striker Scott Hogan could be out for as long as five weeks with an ankle injury, as reported by the BBC.

The 24-year-old, who only arrived at Villa in January, picked up the injury during Monday night’s defeat to Newcastle United, a loss that has Villa fans looking over their shoulders, worrying about getting dragged into a relegation dog fight.

Hogan has only made four appearances since his £12m switch from Brentford and he’s going to have to wait a while until he makes his fifth as he’s not expected to be fit until April. He’s yet to score for Villa either, so he’ll have a long wait to net his first goal in claret and blue.

In truth, the five week prognosis could actually be good news to some as Steve Bruce had indicated that there were some worries about whether he’d be able to feature again this season, but those fears have seemingly been eased.
