When Leandro Bacuna was sent off for bumping into the linesman in stoppage time during Aston Villa’s 1-0 home win over Derby County, there was an initial fear that he might have found himself banned for longer than the usual three matches a player gets for a straight red card, due to the fact that there is precedent for players getting extended bans for incidents involving officials.

However, the FA have confirmed on their website that the midfielder will serve a three game suspension, meaning he will miss tomorrow’s game with Bristol City as well as the away trips to Rotherham and Huddersfield Town.
Although those three sides are battling for different goals this season, they each represent a difficult challenge for Aston Villa and Steve Bruce will no doubt be annoyed that he will be without the services of his midfielder for three games in seven days.
