Henri Lansbury admits that a win tonight against Bristol City would help ease the club’s relegation fears.
Villa have struggled to adapt to life in the Championship and find themselves closer to the relegation zone than the play-offs this season.
As reported by the Express and Star, Lansbury knows the club are not safe yet in their first season back in the English second division.
We’re not clear yet. Everyone knows what the Championship is like. Teams pull off surprise results every week. It’s going to be tough but we’ve just got to ride it out, dig in and stick together. We have to pick up a few more points.
Steve Bruce’s side eased their relegation worries after beating Derby County at Villa Park and a win against Lee Johnson’s side could move the club nine points clear from the bottom four.
Lansbury joined the club in January from Nottingham Forest in a deal worth £2.75 million.
Villa will be feeling confident about their meeting with City. The club have won only once in their last 14 league games.
Their last victory came back at the beginning of February when they beat fellow relegation battlers Rotherham 1-0 at home. However, they do come into the game off the back of a 2-2 draw with Newcastle away from home.
It’s a big game and we have to kick on. Fingers crossed we can put the same performance in and get the three points.
