Championship high-flyers Brighton look set to beat Aston Villa and Leeds to the signing of Norwegian defender Vegard Forren.
As reported by the Argus, the defender is keen to return to English football, having previously having an unsuccessful spell at Southampton.
Forren, now currently a free agent, joined Southampton in 2013 but didn’t make a single appearance for the first-team squad, before returning to Norway.
The 29-year-old left Molde in the beginning of January 2017 when his contract with the club expired.
Forren, who has represented Norway at youth level, also has 33 international caps for the senior side.
Brighton are searching for cover following an injury to Shane Duffy, while Villa themselves are also in the market for another central defender.
Former Queens Park Rangers and Blackburn defender, Chris Samba has been training with Steve Bruce’s side, in a bid to earn a contract with the club.
Samba has featured for the club’s youth side and played 60 minutes against Wolves at Molineux.
