According to a report in the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa striker Jonathan Kodjia has already returned to training, less than 6 weeks after he underwent surgery for a broken ankle.

Villa’s top goalscorer last season went under the knife on the May 4 after he suffered a broken ankle during a 1-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers. This injury prevented the 27-year-old from the having the opportunity of becoming the first player since Peter Withe to score 20 league goals in a season.

It was originally feared that he could be out for as much as 6 months; however, the Ivorian international seems to be making a much faster recovery, and he has been working hard and fighting his way back to fitness with his personal trainer.

It is still not known when he will be available to play for Villa, and it is highly likely that he won’t be fit for the start of the campaign, but at least it looks like he won’t be out for as long as originally expected.
