Villa striker on course to be fit for season opener

Villa striker on course to be fit for season opener

According to a report in the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa have been handed a huge injury boost as the club’s medics have revealed that there is a very good chance that Jonathan Kodjia will be fit for Villa’s opener against Hull.

The Ivorian striker went under the knife in May after suffering a broken ankle against Blackburn, and it was feared that the prolific striker could be out for around six months.

Surgeons had initially told Bruce that it would be at least three months before Kodjia could even step foot onto the training pitches, but he is making rapid progress and now has his sights firmly set on the season opener at Villa Park on the 5th August.

Kodjia scored 19 goals in his debut season at Villa Park, and the Villa faithful will be hoping that he, along with support from Scott Hogan, will be able to fire the club back to the first division of English football.
